The Gaelean Chronicles: Heroes 4 Hire
The Suippes is a world-wide crime syndicate of cutthroat assassins, light-fingered thieves and marauding pirates. They are well-organized, well-resourced and well-disciplined. The Suippes make a trademark of operating completely clandestinely, and take great care and endless measures to ensure a successful mission is absolutely unattributable to them. Their success over the last few centuries has endowed them with an almost mythical reputation. Most of the populace is unsure if they even exist, and some even deny it outright as urban legend and boogeymen.
The Suippes organize and operate in local chapters within major towns and cities, referred to in the vernacular as “Families”, lead by a local Stationmaster called “Father” or “Mother” as gender appropriate. The deputy stationmaster is referred to as the other parent, regardless of gender. Meetings are openly referred to as a meal appropriate for the time of day of the appointment. “Breakfast”, “Lunch” and “Dinner” are individual meetings between members and leadership, whereas “Brunch” and “Supper” are group meetings of cells within the family or the entire family itself.
Thieves’ Cant and The Suippes symbol are the normal modes of identifying membership. The symbol is closely guarded and not to be displayed openly, with few exceptions. Suippes-affiliated pirate captains fly under their personal flag, however, if two ships meet at sea and are both flying pirate flags, one or both may additionally raise The Suippes flag to identify as a member and avoid a friendly fire accident. Thieves’ Cant is learned by all membership and is a rite of initiation from Initiate to Member status. Thieves’ Cant is a means of secure communication; however, it’s use is avoided in the open public because it can be identified even if not deciphered.
Organizational structure of The Suippes above the local Families is unknown outside of the organization itself.
